Preparations are underway for the Women’s Premier League 2023 auction. Major details of the auction to be held on February 13 at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Center have come to the fore. Recently, after the request of the franchisees, the date was confirmed by the BCCI. Now BCCI has revealed the list of auction of players. For the first season of WPL, it is expected to rain heavily on women players. Teams from Hamadabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Lucknow and Mumbai will bid on the players in the auction.
The BCCI has informed that a total of 1525 players had sent their names in the auction for the Women’s Premier League. In which 409 players have been shortlisted. There are 246 Indian players among the players who made it to the final list. While 163 foreign players have been shortlisted for the auction. According to the list released by BCCI, there are 202 capped players while 199 uncapped players have been finalised. There are 8 players from associate country.

A total of 90 slots are available in five teams. In which 30 have been reserved for international players. The biggest base price in the auction for the Women’s Premier League is Rs 50 lakh. Twenty four players have been included in this range. Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, all-rounder Deepti Sharma and Under-19 World Cup winner Shefali Verma are in the base prize of fifty lakhs.

Apart from this, veteran players like Renuka Thakur, Jemima Rodrigues, England all-rounder Sophie Ecclestone, Indian fast bowler Pooja Vastrakar, Indian wicket-keeper batsman Richa Ghosh, Australian captain Meg Lanning have given their names in the base prize of fifty lakhs. In the auction for the Women’s Premier League, 30 players have kept their press price of Rs 40 lakh. Now it has to be seen which player the franchises are kind to.
