World Cup 2023: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi has placed a condition in front of the BCCI. He says that Pakistan will come to India in the World Cup 2023 only when BCCI Secretary Jai Shah gives a written guarantee to send the Indian team in the Champions Trophy 2025. In fact, India is hosting the ODI World this year, while Pakistan is going to host the Champions Trophy in 2025. In such a situation, poor political relations between the two countries can affect cricket events.
Team India will not go to Pakistan to play Asia Cup
The World Cup 2023 is going to be held in India from 5 October. Pakistan team can play their league matches in Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata. Pakistan is hosting the Asia Cup, but the Indian team is not going to play its matches in Pakistan. Rather it is being told that India will play all its matches in UAE. However, it has not been officially confirmed yet.
On the other hand, PCB Chairman Najam Sethi is adamant that if any match of the Asia Cup is played outside Pakistan, then his team will not participate in the Asia Cup.
Pakistan wants written guarantee from BCCI
Pakistan is already worried about the Champions Trophy to be held in 2025. According to media reports, Najam Sethi is going to leave for Dubai soon, where he will hold a meeting with the officials of ACC and ICC. According to PCB sources, during his visit to Dubai, Sethi may start lobbying to garner support for Pakistan’s principled stand that it will not play its World Cup matches in India unless the BCCI and ICC agree on the 2025 Champions Trophy. They don’t give written guarantee of going to Pakistan to play.
