The “Tansen Festival 2022” is going to be different from the previous celebrations, as per the intention of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and under the direction of Culture Minister Sushri Usha Thakur, this time the celebrations are being expanded. This time, along with the city of music, Gwalior, historical places of Gwalior-Chambal region have also been associated with the celebrations.
98th year of Tansen Samaroh this year
The Tansen Festival, which attracts world-class music lovers, art seekers, classical music connoisseurs from Gwalior, has reached near its centenary year, this time it is in its 98th year, so the Culture Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh has Preparations have already started to make the centenary celebrations of Tansen Samaroh an unforgettable one. For this purpose, the celebrations are being expanded from this year.
Music meetings will be held in Shivpuri, Datia and Morena
As part of this year’s Tansen Samaroh, the first meeting of Gamak will be held at Shivpuri on 16 December. After this, the second meeting will be organized in Datia on 17th December. As part of the ceremony, on December 22, a meeting will be organized in the premises of Bateshwar temple, a historic site located near village Padavali under Morena district. This meeting will be of classical music.
From December 18 to 23, the main event will be held in Gwalior at the tomb of Tansen.
This prestigious event of Ustad Allauddin Khan Sangeet and Kala Akademi, Madhya Pradesh Culture Council, Bhopal, in collaboration with the District Administration and Municipal Corporation Gwalior, for the Department of Culture of the State Government, this time also in Sangeetdhani Gwalior, from 18 to 23 December at Hazira, the mausoleum of Sangeet Samrat Tansen. going to be on site. On Gamak 18 in Gwalior, Lokkala Yatra will also take place
As part of this year’s Tansen Samaroh, in the city of music, Gwalior, on December 18 from 7 pm, the prelude “Gamak” will be organized at INTAK Maidan, Hazira. This event of sub-classical music is a major part of the Tansen ceremony. A grand folk art procession will be taken out from Gujri Mahal Kilagate from 5 pm before the commencement of Gamak’s meeting. In this, folk artists will move ahead while exhibiting their art. This yatra will reach Gamak venue i.e. Intak Maidan via Kila Road and Hazira.
Investiture ceremony on 19 December
The formal launch of the Tansen Samaroh will take place on December 19 with the investiture ceremony. On this day morning at the tomb of Sur Samrat Tansen, there will be a traditional start of the ceremony with Shehnai playing, Dholibua Maharaj’s Harikatha and Meelaad Vachan. Tansen Alankaran for the year 2021 will be given in the evening. After this the musical gatherings will start.
This time there will be 10 music gatherings
This time there will be 10 musical gatherings in the Tansen ceremony. The first meeting will be held on the evening of 19th December. After this there will be morning and evening meetings every day. As part of the celebrations, a parallel meeting will also be held in Bateshwar on December 22, which will be of classical music. On December 23, the morning gathering will be held at Behat, the birthplace of Tansen, and in the evening, that is, the last musical gathering of this year’s celebrations will be held in the premises of Gujri Mahal. The final gathering will focus on women artists. There will also be gatherings of world music at the festival. The names of artists of Gamak and Vishwa Sangeet will be announced soon.
Wadi – conversational and painting workshop
As part of the ceremony, invited artistes will give performance-cum-lecture at Raja Man Singh Tomar Music and Arts University for two days on December 20 and 21 under Vaadi Samvadi program. Similarly, art students of Lalit Kala Sansthan will make paintings in the workshop organized at the venue of the Tansen ceremony. On the other hand, an art exhibition will also be organized in the art gallery.
