Forbes list 2022: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and US Vice President Kamala Harris have made it to Forbes’ 19th annual list of powerful women. Forbes has released the list of 100 most powerful women in the world in the year 2022 on Tuesday. In which Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is at 36th position. While Harris is in third place. As per reports, this is the fourth consecutive year when Nirmala Sitharaman has made it to the list. Last year she was ranked 37, 41 in 2020 and 34 in 2019.
In the year 2021, Kamala Harris became the first black woman and the first South Asian-American to become the Vice President of America. Kamala Harris, a native of California, was born in Oakland. His mother was Indian and father was from Jamaica. According to the report, apart from Kamala Harris, Global TV head Bela Bajaria is another Indian-American in the list who is at 71st position. Born in London, Bajaria was named in Time’s list of 100 Most Influential People in 2022. Whereas in May 2019, Sitharaman was appointed as the first woman Finance Minister of India.
Apart from Sitharaman, other Indians in the Forbes list also include Roshni Nadar Malhotra, CEO of HCL Corporation and the youngest Indian woman. The list includes Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, founder of Biocon, Madhavi Puri Buch, the first woman chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board of India, Soma Mondal, the first woman to chair the steel authority, and Falguni Nair, founder of Nykaa.
It is worth mentioning that every year the American Business Magazine releases the list of 100 powerful women of the world. In this year’s list, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has been placed at the top of the list.
