UGC Rules 2022: After amending the PhD rules by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in November, now other universities have also started preparing to implement it. In this series, Devi Ahilya University of Indore has also decided to implement it before the entrance examination to be held in February, under which now professors up to the age of 62 years will become PhD guides and guide new researchers in getting PhD. The special thing is that for the third time in the last 15 years, the rules regarding the guide have been amended.
Actually, the retirement age of teachers is generally fixed at 65 years. In such a situation, many teachers continue to conduct research for research scholars on PhD seat till the age of 65 years, as a result of which they retire at 65 and the research scholars’ PhD remains incomplete, to complete it they have to take a new guide. Have to find Due to this, the duration of doing PhD increases, in such a way that PhD does not last long and is completed on time, UGC has fixed the age of the guide.
These will be the terms and conditions
According to the rules of UGC, now only professors up to the age of 62 years will be made PhD guides, under this only guides between the age of 62 to 65 years will get the researchers under them to complete PhD. For this some terms and conditions were also fixed, under which the guide will have to complete PhD in 3 years after attaining the age of 62 years. Such teachers whose retirement age limit is less than 3 years left, they will not be allowed to take new researchers under their supervision but the guidance of already registered researchers will continue. The most important thing in this is that during this entire period or in spite of having vacant seats, the guide will not get any new research scholar.
Rules will apply in this university of MP
According to the media reports, after this change, Devi Ahilya University of MP is also preparing to start the registration process for new guides. For this, the university will add this rule to its ordinance, it is likely that after approval from the Executive Council in January, the rules can be included. Since earlier the university had decided to conduct the Doctoral Entrance Test (DET) for the vacant PhD seats in February, but now it is preparing to change that too after the UGC changed the rules.
