Rahul Gandhi Defemation Case: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has received a major setback from the Surat court. In fact, on Thursday, April 20, the court gave its verdict on the petition filed by Rahul Gandhi to cancel the sentence pronounced by the court in the Modi surname case. The court has rejected Rahul Gandhi’s petition. Sessions Court Judge RP Mogera dismissed the petition filed by Rahul Gandhi in just one word. As soon as the matter came to the fore, he dismissed the petition of the Congress leader by saying only the word dismiss.

In fact, during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi had given a controversial statement during his election speech in Kolar. Under this statement, he had made a controversial comment regarding the Modi surname. Regarding this comment, different complaints and objections were lodged in many states of the country. One of these petitions was also filed in the Surat court.

While hearing this petition, the sessions court of Surat, while giving an important verdict on March 23, convicted Rahul Gandhi and sentenced him to two years. The special thing is that only a day after this order of the court, Rahul Gandhi had to lose his MP as well, that is, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha had decided to cancel his MP as well due to the sentence of two years.

Challenging the order of the Surat court, Rahul Gandhi filed an appeal regarding the cancellation of the two-year sentence. However, the court has rejected the petition filed on his behalf. The special thing is that if Rahul Gandhi’s petition was heard by the sessions court and the court stayed the punishment, then Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership would also have been restored. But after the court dismissed the petition, all the speculations about his membership have ended.
