Bengaluru:
India has resolved its social, political and linguistic issues peacefully through dialogue in 70 years. The main reason for this is the democracy established in the country. One big reason is also that people had faith in the election results and because of this it became possible. Yet the Election Commission has to go through ‘Agnipariksha’ after every election. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar made the remarks at a press conference on Saturday in response to a question whether the people of Karnataka can trust the Election Commission to conduct free and fair elections in the state.
Election Commission conducted 400 Vidhansabha and 17 Lok Sabha elections
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that with the completion of elections in Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya, the Election Commission has completed the 400th State Assembly elections. There have been 17 Lok Sabha elections and 16 Presidential and Vice Presidential elections. He further said, ‘After the election the results are accepted and the change of power is done smoothly by ballot every time. This is a big thing compared to what is happening in many developed countries recently.

CEC had arrived in Karnataka to take stock of the election preparations
He said that in the last 70 years India has resolved its social, cultural, political, geographical, economic, linguistic issues peacefully and through dialogue mainly because of established democracy which is possible only because people trust the election results. We do. Still, the Central Election Commission has to give ‘fire test’ every time after every election. In response to another question, Kumar said that fabricated stories and inducements are a big challenge. The Election Commissioner was in Karnataka to assess the election preparedness. The term of the state assembly is ending on May 24 and before that elections are to be held to form a new assembly.
