Ujjain News: At present, the renovation work of the ICU ward of the District Hospital of Ujjain is going on. Due to the prolonged work here, the pressure on the ICU of Madhav Nagar Hospital seems to be increasing. Madhavnagar has 22 ICU beds, but when more patients arrive, they are unable to get treatment and patients have to be referred. One thing to note in the ongoing tussle between the patients in the arrangement made between the two hospitals is that the district hospital is the biggest hospital in the division. Despite this, only 10 ICU beds are available here for the treatment of serious patients. Renovation is being done but no one cares to increase the number of beds.
The renovation of the ICU ward of the district hospital was started in October. New beds, beds with ventilators and installation of state-of-the-art machines and equipment along with other works are to be done here. Repair work of wall and roof is also being done here. Before the repairs started, the patients here were shifted to Madhavnagar Hospital. Due to the prolonged renovation work, now the condition is that even after 22 beds, if a patient reaches here too much, then either he has to wait for treatment or is forced to go to a private hospital. The district hospital administration says that the renovation work will be completed soon.
Ujjain District Hospital is the biggest hospital in the division. Despite this, only 10 ICU beds are available here. Renovation work is going on here but the number of beds is not increasing. If extra patients reach here, they are sent elsewhere for treatment. Being the biggest district hospital of the division, it should have at least 20 beds so that patients do not have to go to Indore or any other higher centre. A plan was also prepared in this regard but it was not implemented and it is still hanging in the balance.
