In the press conference, Inspector General of Police of Balaghat Zone, Sanjay Kumar had told that Naxalites are expanding in the MMC zone in the district. They are reaching Balaghat from the border areas of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Although the Balaghat Police is dealing with the strength of the District Police Force, Hawkforce and CRPF under the Naxalite eradication campaign in the district, but in view of the way the Naxalite activity is being felt in the district, the Balaghat Police has decided to cooperate with the State Government. The proposal of two battalions was sent to the last March, April. But if experts are to be believed, since this battalion is currently stationed in Chhattisgarh, Orissa and West Bengal, it is expected that Balaghat Police may get two battalions as per its proposal after the normalcy here. However, the decision on this has to be taken at the government level and when it will happen. It is not certain yet.

19-year-old Rajesh alias Nanda Vanjam, a resident of Palgudem under Bhejji police station in Sukma district, and another, carrying a reward of Rs 32 lakh, in a Hawkforce and Naxal encounter near Jamsera Forest post under Garhi police station area of the district on November 30 at around 11 am. Maoist team in-charge zone coordinator Ganesh, 27, a resident of Narguda under Kasansur police station of Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, was killed.
