National Pollution Control Day 2022: The night between 2nd and 3rd December is recorded as a dark night in the history of Bhopal. 38 years ago, on 2 December 1984, poisonous gas leaked from the Union Carbide factory (UCIL) in Bhopal. It was India’s biggest industrial disaster. More than 15 thousand people died and more than 5 lakh people were affected due to the gas named Methyl Isocyanate (MIC) emanating from this pesticide factory. Although the government figure only talked about 3,000 deaths, but the third and fourth generations are also suffering the consequences of the gas tragedy. Many children are still born with congenital malformations in the affected areas. Even now many people affected by the accident are waiting for proper compensation. Life went on for the rest of the people, but generations of victims of the gas tragedy seem to have come to a standstill in the shadow of pain.
National Pollution Control Day is celebrated every year on 2 December to remember the Bhopal gas tragedy and to keep our environment free from pollution. People should not be harmed due to poisonous air and there should be no danger to their lives, this is the effort to spread awareness. Today is the day to prevent air pollution and spread the consciousness of making our environment pollution free. It is a matter of great concern that 9 out of 10 people around the world are forced to breathe polluted air. People all over the world are suffering from respiratory diseases, lung cancer, brain or kidney and heart diseases. Pollution is one of the main reasons behind this.
When we talk about the problem, it is necessary to talk about the solution with it. To reduce the increasing pollution around the world, everyone needs to make efforts at their own level. The smoke coming out of vehicles is a major cause of air pollution. We can stop it by using more cycles. By reducing the consumption of electricity, planting trees, reducing the use of appliances like fridge air conditioners, you can contribute to making the environment safe. Along with this, attention should also be paid to keeping oneself healthy by adopting clean food and right lifestyle.
“Mother land son earth”
Earth is our mother and mother has given clean water, air and environment to all of us. It is also the duty of all of us to save it for the coming generations. To achieve this goal, imbibe the mantra of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.: CM #NationalPollutionPreventionDay pic.twitter.com/lm8zni2dC1
