The Shivraj government of the state is now preparing to close all the hookah bars in MP, taking strict steps against hookah bars (lounges). For this, the state government has prepared a bill for the first time, in which running a hookah bar is considered a crime, which means that on receiving a complaint, the police will not only arrest without any warrant, but will also take immediate action. The authority to take action has been given to the sub-inspector or above officer in the police. They will immediately reach the hookah bar, confiscate the goods and register an offence.

Under this bill, on the lines of Gujarat-Maharashtra in MP, the minimum punishment will be 1 year and maximum 3 years in jail. Fines ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh have been kept on the lines of Rajasthan-Chhattisgarh. It is likely that soon the proposal will be passed in the cabinet and sent for President’s approval so that it can be implemented as soon as it is approved. Gujarat and Maharashtra have got approval. That’s why Madhya Pradesh is also hopeful of acceptance.
