Mid-day meal workers sitting on strike, demanding increase in honorarium by raising slogans




Alot News: In Alot, mid-day meal workers in government schools and Anganwadi centers have gone on strike. The women and cooks of the women self-help group who went on strike say that their honorarium should be increased.

These women and cooks were seen sitting outside the SDM office demanding increase in their honorarium. The surprising thing is that these employees, who prepare mid-day meals in schools and Anganwadis, are being paid a salary of Rs 2,000 per month. These women, who work from morning till evening, say that we should be given at least Rs 10,000 a month.

The women and cooks of the self-help groups sitting on strike shouted slogans and said that we have been preparing mid-day meals in schools and anganwadis through self-help groups for 12 years, but still we are not being given proper honorarium.

Mid-day meals were not distributed in the government schools of Alot due to the strike by women cooks of self-help groups. The employees had already informed the school principal that they were going to go on strike to increase the honorarium. Regarding this matter, the District Panchayat CEO says that the matter of salary hike is of the government level and we cannot do anything in this matter. If the employees have gone on strike, some alternative arrangements will be made after consulting the Gram Panchayat.
