IPL 2023: BCCI is going to implement a new rule in the next season of IPL. The name of this rule will be ‘Impact Player Rule’. Information about this has been given from the official Twitter handle of IPL. Earlier this rule is applicable in sports like basketball, baseball fans football. Let us tell you that the ‘Impact Player’ rule was implemented in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.
BCCI said in a statement, ‘BCCI is going to implement the ‘Impact Player’ concept. In which the participating teams can change a member of their playing XI during the T20 match. According to the rules, any team will be allowed to change one player of their playing 11. During the first toss, the captain had to tell his playing XI. But after this rule is implemented, the captain can name his 15-member player.

What is the ‘Impact Player’ rule of IPL?
According to this rule, the captain can name his 15 players during the toss. Out of which only 11 players will be part of the playing 11. But if needed, teams can send one of their players to play on the ground as a substitute. As a substitute, a player can replace one of the playing 11 players in the 14th over of an innings. But this information will have to be given to the first field umpire or the fourth umpire.
If any batsman or bowler of a team is not in good form, then in his place another player can be sent on the playing field as a substitute. On the other hand, if a wicket falls early, a team can feed an extra batsman instead of one of its bowlers. This can happen in bowling as well. However, the first playing player will not be a part of the game again after the arrival of the Substitute.
