
Indian Railways: Railway is preparing to close Omkareshwar, Sanawad, Mhow rail section soon due to Indore and Khandwa gauge conversion project. Railway can issue tender soon regarding this. Actually, now the train between Mhow, Omkareshwar and Sanawad is running from Dr. Ambedkar Nagar station. But now this route will be closed and the Patalpani route will be kept running for the heritage train. At the same time, soon earth work will be started between Balwada to Omkareshwar.
According to the information, this project has been stuck for a long time. In this project pending for years, the work from Mhow to Sanawad is to be done mainly. But the forest department’s land is very much in this. Actually, Ratlam-Indore-Mhow-Sanawad-Khandwa-Akola broad gauge project was approved in 2008. Then it was to be built at a cost of 1400 crores but due to short stay, now its cost has increased to 4000 crores.
In such a situation, an expenditure of about Rs 2400 crore is said to be fixed in the projects of Surf Mahu and Sanawad. However, between Khandwa and Sanawad, the meter gauge line has been changed to broad gauge. Now soon earth work will be started between Balwada to Omkareshwar. Regarding this, it has been told by railway expert Nagesh Namjoshi that work has to be done between Balwada to Omkareshwar. Actually there is no ghat on this route. Its tender will be issued soon. After its tender, a new bridge on Matka is yet to be built, which will be completed. It is expected that the work will be completed soon.
