
IMD Weather Update Today : There is a possibility of welcoming the new year across the country with snowfall on the mountains along with cold and fog. According to the India Meteorological Department, in the first week of the new year, dense fog and cold wave may prevail in most areas of North-West India. Western Disturbance is becoming active this evening, due to which there may be snowfall in the upper reaches of the Himalayas on December 29 and 30. The same Western Disturbance will also increase the possibility of rain in Punjab and the maximum and minimum mercury of the plains.
According to IMD, light rain may occur in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran due to the activation of Western Disturbance. As soon as it leaves, many states are also expected to experience shivering cold from January. Dense fog may remain in Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi till the new year. There is a possibility of intermittent snowfall in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday (December 29) and Friday (December 30).
Fog-cold wave in many states including Delhi
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain in some parts of Punjab on December 29, along with cold wave in different parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and North Rajasthan on January 1-2 in Chandigarh on December 31. . During this, dense fog will remain in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan. The havoc of cold wave and fog will increase and for the next three to four days cold havoc will be seen in many states including Delhi.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the second round of cold wave will start in Punjab and Haryana after December 31. Till December 3, the effect of cold wave and fog will be visible in Punjab. Dense fog warning has been issued in 31 districts of Uttar Pradesh till January 2. On the other hand, there is a possibility of intermittent light to moderate snowfall at some places in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday and Friday. For the next five days in Uttarakhand, there will be a cold day-cold wave with dense fog in the plains and light to moderate rain and snowfall at some places in the mountainous areas.
