Heavy rain is likely over Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Karur, Dindigul, Madurai, Sivagangai districts and Karaikal areas.

Cyclone Mandus has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm, with the IMD issuing a red alert to three districts in Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpattu, Villupuram and Kancheepuram today.

- Under the influence of this system, very heavy rain and thunderstorm is also possible over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Interior Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema on 9-10 December.
- Light to moderate rain would occur at most places over North Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
- Heavy rain is likely over South Interior Karnataka and Kerala on 9th and 11th December.
- After the system landfall on December 11, widespread rain and thundershowers are very likely over the southern half of the subcontinent.
- A weak Western Disturbance is present over Kashmir
- Due to this, light/moderate rain/snow is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh till December 10.
- The maximum temperature will remain above normal over most parts of the Northeast till at least the end of December.

Weather will change in Rajasthan after December 12
