To this Mandaviya said that since he had taken action against several medical colleges in Tamil Nadu which were functioning without proper infrastructure, this (protest by DMK MPs) was a reaction to that action.

The Health Minister further told the Lok Sabha that since AIIMS Madurai was a project funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and their representative could not visit India during the last two years due to the pandemic, the cost of the project was Rs 1900 crore. was increased.

The DMK MPs alleged that the minister was threatening them, to which Speaker Om Birla said the minister had not indicated anyone in particular and was making general observations. Speaker Om Birla assured DMK MP Balu that he would look into the matter of deleting the comments made by the minister from the records.
