Madhya Pradesh’s craftsman Yusuf Khatri has been awarded for Bagh Print Hand Stamping Art in Handicraft Art. Union Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal and other senior officials were present at the function. On this occasion, 30 other craftsmen of the country were also honored. These include ten Shilp Gurus of the year 2017, ten of 2018 and ten of the year 2019. Along with this, the craftsmen were also awarded with the National Handcraft Award. This prestigious award was conferred by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India for the year 2017, 2018, 2019 in Delhi. On this occasion, Vice President Mr. Jagdish Dhankhar said that the craft gurus of the country have been selected and honored. He said that these craft gurus are playing the role of ambassadors in the country. He also admired the Bagh print carpet made by craftsman Yusuf Khatri.
Mohammad Yusuf Khatri, the only craftsman of Bagh in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, has got this distinction. This decoration of craftsmen was given by the Vice President Mr. Jagdeep Dhankhar. He was given a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh along with a tamrapatra, certificate, shawl and gold medal. “Shilp Guru” is the highest honor in the field of handicrafts in India. Shilp Guru Award to Mohammad Yusuf Khatri was presented in Bagh Print Stamp Printing, unique carpet, double bed sheet and silk saree. The design of Taj Mahal and Red Fort was used in these products with the inclusion of natural colors.
On this occasion, Yusuf Khatri gave the credit of his achievement to his family and all those artisans who are directly and indirectly working for Bagh Printers. Even before this, he has been awarded two National Awards in the year 2003 by the then President. Mohammad Yusuf Khatri is the only artisan of India who has the distinction of receiving two National Awards. Also, he has received seven awards from the International UNESCO. On March 8, 2000, he was honored with the state level award by the Government of Madhya Pradesh and from time to time awards and honors have been given by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
Due to the continuous research work of Mohammad Yusuf Khatri, the demand for traditional garden print hand-printed clothes has increased in Indian and foreign markets. Hundreds of tribal, Harijan, backward class and poor youths, girls and women of the area are being trained continuously. Mohammad Yusuf Khatri has saved this art from extinction and due to this hundreds of people are getting direct and indirect employment in the area. Presently his research work is going on continuously. Keeping in mind the modern needs, Mohd. Yusuf Khatri did different types of experiments in an attractive way so that this traditional Bagh Hand Stamping art can be preserved for a long time and Bagh Hand Stamping Art becomes popular and popular at the national and international level. important position remains.
It is another matter of pride for Madhya Pradesh that Mohammad Bilal Khatri, a young master craftsman from Bagh town of Dhar district, was honored with the National Award by Union Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal. Along with this, a copper plate, certificate, shawl and a prize of one lakh rupees were also given. A total of 68 craftsmen of the years 2017, 2018 and 2019 were honored with National Awards on this occasion. Even before this, Mohammad Bilal Khatri has been awarded National Merit Award for the year 2011 and State Level Award for the year 2010 and World Crafts Council UNESCO International Award in the year 2016. In the year 2018 Milan Italy, in the year 2017 Goyang China, in the year 2017 Isfahan Iran, in the year 2014 Moscow, St.Petersburg, Kaluga Russia, Dongyang China and in the year 2012 Bahrain has hoisted the glory of garden print art in many corners of the world.
Mohammad Yusuf Khatri and his son Mohammad Bilal Khatri have introduced Bagh print to the world. After receiving training from Mohammad Yusuf Khatri, his wife and sons have also been honored with international, national and state level awards. Among these, wife Hajjani Haseena Khatri received state level award in 2014, son Sir Mohammad Bilal Khatri national award and international award in 2018, son Mohammad Kazim Khatri state level award and international award in 2020, son Abdul Karim Khatri in 2021.
