Councilors Salary Hike: There is good news for the councilors of the Union Territory of Ladakh. The honorarium of all councilors of Leh and Kargil Autonomous Hill Development Councils in Ladakh has been doubled. The councilors used to get Rs 60,000 per month earlier, now they will get Rs 1.20 lakh per month, which means they will get Rs 60,000 per month as allowance.
In this regard, Ajit Kumar Sahu, Secretary, General Administration Department (GAD) issued a notification in this regard on Saturday. The councilors of Leh and Kargil of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council will get an additional monthly constituency allowance of Rs 40,000, office and telephone allowance of Rs 10,000 and medical allowance of Rs 10,000, the notification said.
Tell that Ajit Kumar Sahu, Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department, has issued the order under Section 35 of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Act 1997. All councilors of Ladakh and Kargil will be benefitted by this decision. A committee was formed under the chairmanship of Dr. Pawan Kotwal regarding the issue of increase in honorarium of councillors. After the recommendation of the committee, the proposal was approved.
