Big decision in Modi cabinet, free ration to the poor till 2023, “One Rank-One Pension” also approved

Delhi Cabinet Meeting Free Grain Army One Rank: Many major decisions were approved in the meeting chaired by PM Modi on Friday. In this, important decisions have been taken in the meeting of the Union Cabinet regarding free ration to the poor and One Rank One Pension for the armed forces. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and Union Minister Piyush Goyal gave this information to the media after the Union Cabinet meeting held in Delhi.

Free ration to 81.3 crore people in the country for the next 1 year

The Union Cabinet has decided to provide free ration to 81.3 crore people in the country for the next 1 year under the Food Security Act. Union Minister Piyush Goyal told that it will cost Rs 2 lakh crore, which will be borne by the central government. In fact, under the National Food Security Act, the central government was giving rice ₹ 3, wheat ₹ 2 and coarse grains ₹ 1 kg till now, now till December 2023 all these grains will be available free of cost, this will benefit more than 81 crore people. At the same time, the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, started during Kovid-19, will also continue for the next 1 year, under which 5 kg of food grains were given free of cost to the poor. Under the National Food Security Act, 35 kg food grains were available, which will now be available free of cost.

One Rank, One Pension

While giving information to the media, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the Union Cabinet has approved the next revision of pension of defense forces personnel/family pensioners under ‘One Rank, One Pension’ (OROP). Defense forces pensioners/family pensioners will get enhanced pension as per OROP proposal.

This decision of the Cabinet will fulfill the commitment of the Government of India towards revision of pension of Defense Forces Personnel/Family Pensioners under OROP from 01 July 2019. The pension of the previous pensioners will be re-fixed on the basis of the average of the minimum pension of the Defense Forces Personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service in the calendar year 2018. The pension of people getting more than this average pension will be protected.

This benefit will also be given to widows of military personnel killed in war and family pensioners including disabled pensioners. This will attract the youth to join the armed forces. The balance will be paid in four half-yearly instalments. However, all family pensioners including special/liberalised family pensioners and gallantry award winners will be paid arrears in one instalment. Around 2513002 Defense Forces pensioners/family pensioners including old OROP beneficiaries will be benefited by this
