Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to unite opposition forces against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government at the Center ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Will meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata on Monday. Along with this, Nitish Kumar also has a program to meet Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow on Monday itself. Talking to media persons, Nitish Kumar had recently said that he would soon start a nationwide campaign to unite the anti-BJP forces. Apart from an official program, he had also said that as soon as he leaves, everyone will know which leaders he will meet.
Highlights of Nitish Kumar’s meeting with Mamta Banerjee
- Earlier there were reports that Nitish Kumar may meet Mamta Banerjee on 25 April. In such a situation, today Nitish Kumar is expected to meet Mamta Banerjee at the office located in West Bengal State Secretariat ‘Nabanna’.
- The two leaders are likely to hold a closed-door meeting to chalk out a strategy to fight the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
- Mamta Banerjee held similar meetings with Akhilesh Yadav and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik last month.
- After meeting Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former MP Rahul Gandhi, Nitish Kumar will now hold a meeting with Mamta Banerjee. This meeting is being considered as a major step towards laying the foundation of the Grand Alliance before the next year’s general elections.
- It is worth mentioning that Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was also present along with Nitish Kumar in the meeting held at Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence.
- Confirming Nitish Kumar’s meeting with Akhilesh Yadav, a senior leader of the Grand Alliance in Bihar said that Tejashwi Yadav is also likely to accompany Nitish Kumar on his Lucknow tour.
- Nitish Kumar also met senior Congress leader Harish Rawat in Patna on Wednesday. There was a long discussion between the two in this meeting. After this meeting, Nitish Kumar reportedly made some changes in his strategy to start talks with regional party leaders.
- After meeting Nitish Kumar, Harish Rawat had said that there will be only political talks in the meeting of the two leaders.
